Purpose Activities

Join the global International Coastal Cleanup event each year, organized in the Galapagos by the National Park and Academy Bay Diving. Divers, boat crews, and volunteers work together to remove trash—like tires, fishing line, and plastic—from the ocean and coastline, keeping local marine environments cleaner and safer for wildlife.

Certified divers, dive staff, and community members
Required: Open Water certification (for diving volunteers)
Equipment provided: Tanks, Weights, Mesh Bags

Recent events have removed tons of debris with over 500 local participants. Participation details are announced close to the event date.

How to Join:

Simply arrive at the dive shop for annual participation.

  1. Go to Academy Bay Diving on Charles Darwin Avenue.
  2. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the announced cleanup start time (typically mid-September).
  3. Ask for the Cleanup Event Team and register as a volunteer.

Additional Offerings

Fun Diving

Trips go daily by custom dive boat to top Galapagos sites such as Gordon Rocks, North Seymour, Floreana, and more, with experienced guides and all equipment included.

Training Courses

PADI courses from beginner to Divemaster level, taught by local instructors with years of experience, using a dedicated dive boat and pool for skills training.

Accommodation

No dedicated on-site accommodation, but staff can provide guidance and book trusted local options within easy walking distance to the dive center.
