Purpose Activities

Participate in organized marine and coastal cleanup events in Dampier Strait and nearby islands, directly removing trash and plastic waste from reefs and beaches alongside staff and local residents.

Open to the local community and volunteers; all ages welcome
Equipment provided: Gloves, Collection Bags, Boat Transport (For Water Cleanups)

Help protect fragile marine habitats; actions scheduled with community and authority announcements.

How to Join:

Simply arrive at the designated site on event day.

  1. Check for published cleanup dates on the Marine Park Authority website or social media.
  2. Go to the announced meeting location.
  3. Arrive on time (usually morning), and check in with the organizing team.

Additional Offerings

Fun Diving

General diving access is by arrangement and typically limited to responsible tourism permitted through local operators, focusing on the reefs of Dampier Strait and surrounding MPAs.

Training Courses

Occasional professional and eco-certifications (SSI Dive Guide, Rescue, Divemaster) are provided primarily for local capacity-building, not as general public courses.

Accommodation

No accommodation is offered directly; visiting divers and researchers use local Waisai guesthouses or partner homestays nearby.
