About This Program

PADI 5 Star center working with local partners to organize regular Dive Against Debris cleanups in Zanzibar’s north and Mnemba Atoll.

Purpose Activities

Join the Dive Point Zanzibar and Linda Bahari teams as they run Dive Against Debris cleanups targeting plastic and ocean trash in popular local dive areas and beaches. More than 500kg of debris has been collected on previous missions by local and visiting teams, and all collected waste is safely handed over to Zanrec, Zanzibar’s waste management company.

Open to all certified divers; non-divers can join beach cleanups.
Required: Open Water certification for underwater cleanup
Required: Basic swimming for beach cleanup
Equipment provided: Tanks, Weights, Cleanup Mesh Bags

Events are often organized together with community groups; follow social media for upcoming cleanup dates.

How to Join:

Simply arrive at the location.

  1. Go to the Dive Point Zanzibar main desk in Matemwe.
  2. Arrive 15 mins early before scheduled cleanup days (check social media announcements).
  3. Ask for the Dive Against Debris organizer or team on arrival.

Additional Offerings

Fun Diving

Daily guided diving trips to Mnemba Atoll and northeast Zanzibar, with wooden safari dhows and a rubber duck boat for small groups.

Training Courses

Full PADI training from Discover Scuba and Open Water up to Rescue Diver, with pool and ocean lessons available on site.

Accommodation

Partner guesthouses and local stays are available in Matemwe and Nungwi with easy access to the dive center.
