Purpose Activities

Learn to identify and interact with Dwarf Minke whales responsibly, covering their biology, conservation, and research with two supervised dives/snorkel sessions. Includes reporting sightings to the GBRMPA Eye on the Reef program and supports Project AWARE.

Certified divers (PADI Open Water or equivalent) or experienced snorkellers (minimum age 10); medical check required.
Required: PADI Open Water certification (or equivalent) for divers
Required: Previous snorkelling experience for snorkellers
Required: Completed medical declaration
Equipment provided: Dive And Snorkel Equipment, Air Fills, Course Materials

Part of your fee supports Minke whale conservation; available only on Minke Whale liveaboard expeditions.

Frequent day trips and liveaboards to outer Great Barrier Reef sites, including Saxon, Norman, and Hastings reefs, in small groups with both diving and snorkelling options.

Training Courses

Full PADI range from beginner to Instructor, with pro-level and specialist conservation courses delivered at a purpose-built facility with a heated pool and on-board liveaboards.

Accommodation

Liveaboard stays available on OceanQuest vessel; overnight trip packages include all meals and bedding, departing from Cairns with easy access to the dive center.
