About This Program

A well-established North Carolina dive center offering specialty courses on invasive lionfish removal and citizen science shark photo identification, giving divers tools to take direct action for local marine life.

Purpose Activities

Learn why lionfish are invasive on the Atlantic coast and how divers can help control their population. Course covers safe and humane capture techniques, lionfish biology, and how to clean them for consumption, including two supervised dives with practical training.

Advanced divers (18+) with 30+ dives, Nitrox and offshore NC deep wreck experience.
Required: PADI Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
Required: PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Diver (or equivalent)
Required: Minimum 30 logged dives
Required: Minimum 18 years old
Required: Experience with offshore dives on NC wrecks (>70 ft)
Equipment provided: Instruction, Books And Materials, Certification

A personal pole spear is required (available for purchase at the shop). Boat dive fees are extra. If you aren't fully qualified yet, you can still sign up for it - we'll help find the right training pathway for your current skills.
