A research-driven PADI 5-star center leading long-term citizen-science programs on sharks and rays at Julian Rocks, partnering with marine scientists and national projects.

Purpose Activities

Contribute sighting photos of leopard sharks to help track individuals, reveal site fidelity, and inform management actions in Cape Byron Marine Park. Data from divers fuel one of the world's longest-running photo-ID studies for this species.

Open to all certified divers and snorkellers visiting Julian Rocks or Australian East Coast.

How to Join:

Simply upload your shark photo after a dive.

  1. Join a dive or snorkel trip at Julian Rocks.
  2. Take clear photos of leopard sharks showing their unique spot patterns.
  3. Visit https://www.sharkbook.ai/react/report.
  4. Upload your sighting info and images to the project.

Additional Offerings

Fun Diving

Daily boat trips to Julian Rocks in Cape Byron Marine Park, with small-group guided dives and high chance of shark, ray, and turtle sightings.

Training Courses

Full PADI range from beginner up to Divemaster, taught by highly experienced instructors with pool and ocean training at central Byron Bay location.

Accommodation

No on-site rooms, but walking distance to a wide range of Byron Bay hotels and hostels.
